The Start

Well, I've wanted to build a kit car for years and years but there's always been something to prevent me, new kitchen, moving house, children, motorbike mid-life crisis, all the usual distractions that would put off spending lots of money and time into a project that would only ever be selfish and for fun! (I didn't see it that way but who am I to argue, LOL).

Around about 6th April I announced (very carefully with the usual sweeteners bought and applied first) that I was going to build a kit car. This was met with joy and happiness. When I eventually picked myself up off the floor I realised I was being asked questions that seemed encouraging (I thought the food had gone off), like what colour is it going to be, we'd better clear out the garage, can I drive it!

Wow, a definite green light for the build?? I better mention the price (being conservative of course) - but no, still a green light (am I dreaming or have they eaten all of the food that's obviously gone off?) Have they been shopping and used up all the credit allowance so are really laughing until I find out?

I rushed to the computer and started sharing websites of possible cars with the usual "I like that colour" and "does it have heated seats?"

So with my approval still in tact I started to plan and suddenly realised how much preparation I needed to do to free up space - new shed for all the bikes and gardening tools, empty the garage of the wood collection (that was when I was going to turn bowls and antiquities to make a little monkey on the side).

In the meantime I visited Great British Sportscars at Ollerton, what a great bunch of people. I only called in because I was in there area but they showed me all round the factory, introduced me to everyone, took me for a spin in their demonstrator and really made me feel welcome. I've not made a decision on this yet as the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh is in a week's time so I'll have a look at everything before I make any decisions however, if a kit was based on friendliness and knowledge sharing then GBS would certainly be one the best you could choose. Hopefully I'll be placing an order with someone at the weekend........

A new shed has been ordered for all the bikes and gardening stuff, hopefully this will be here this week (w/c 28th April 2014). This then allows me to clear the garage properly for the impending kit car (Yippee)

Garage Cleaning in progress!
